The high water last night displaced our resident CAVE BEAVER. That's
right, we have beavers that live in a side tunnel inside Garnet Cave.
We have seen them there in the past. Today this beaver put on quite a
show for our guests.
Interesting behavior: The beaver immersed
itself in a large pile of foam (also called "Indian Soap" - which is
caused by the presence of tannin and organic material in the water and
the turbulent action of the water). It then proceeded to wash itself
with the foam! Quite interesting.
You never know what you might see when you visit the caves. We also have a family of black mink that are occasionally spotted.
