Day 1 Tourism’s Roots

Nature has always been the first attraction.  Stone Bridge & Caves has been a family owned business for over 200 years.  A land grant for service in the Revolutionary War, the property was originally a farmstead and sawmill.  In the 1940’s it became an official tourist attraction, although it had already been a destination for decades.

Day 2 History & Heritage

Visit the Adirondack Experience, formerly the Adirondack Museum, in Blue Mountain Lake with an excellent interactive exhibit featuring the early days of logging and milling (among may other exhibits).  See first hand the type of operation that used to be on the Sawmill Site Waterfalls of Stone Bridge & Caves.

Day 3 Natural Science Center

Visit the Wild Center in Tupper Lake.  At this state of the art facility, you learn how glacial ice carved Adirondack bedrock into places like Stone Bridge! Walk above the trees and see the birds.  Be sure to check the daily schedule so you can be there for the otter feedings!
